The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is the largest, non-profit, volunteer sports organization in the US, dedicated to evolving young athletes physically and through education and mentoring.  They are headquartered at the Walt Disney World Resorts and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando.  The organization provides youth programs in every major sport including; football, basketball, hockey, baseball, wrestling, martial arts, among others.  Now entering its fourth year Team IZOD is one of the most successful programs within the basketball division.  It consistently boasts some of the most sought after college basketball recruits in the country that not only excel on the court but have stellar grades off the court.

PVH’s involvement with AAU began when president and general manager of Team IZOD, Ed Bright approached PVH President Allen Sirkin at a Nets game and spoke about the program and the need for sponsors to help these kids and the rest is history.

Today, Team IZOD is coached by former legendary basketball player Darryl “Chocolate Thunder” Dawkins and includes seven teams with 12 boys per team ranging from ages 10-17 all living within the tri-state area.  The Team plays in over 10 tournaments a year, including some international events.  The program also hosts off-the-court seminars such as; “How to Tie a Tie,” “Keys to going on Job Interview” and tutoring for the SAT’s.

Ken Duane, President of Wholesale Apparel, recently met with Ed and Darryl to discuss PVH’s on-going support of the program and ways to increase our overall company engagement with the effort.  “The significant impact the AAU Team IZOD program, being led by Ed Bright, is a game changer in the lives of the young men involved. This sponsorship fits strategically within the IZOD marketing objectives highlighting brand performance, as well as within our PVH Cares initiatives focusing on women and kids, while giving back to communities. We embrace and proudly support this sponsorship, as it is a true example of our values at PVH Corp.,” comments Ken.

In the future, PVH and the IZOD team will be more involved with all aspects from helping to design the uniforms to promoting the program through internal and external communications and events.  Look for upcoming Lunch and Learns where members of the teams will visit 200 Madison and provide more insight into the program.
