Developing High-Character Young Men With Team Izod

Now in its fourth year, Team IZOD has become one of the most successful Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball programs in the country. While the on-the-court success has been heralded, it’s the impact Team IZOD makes on its players off-the-court that’s been a real game changer. As Team IZOD’s graduating class of players are quick to point out, basketball is just part of what the program is all about.

The goal of Team IZOD is to use the intangible skills learned through basketball as a vehicle for molding high-character young men. Former basketball great and Team IZOD coach Darryl Dawkins describes their maturation with the team saying, “[Team IZOD players] come in as little lambs and … walk away as lions.” The personal growth of these players stems from: Dawkins’s guidance, academic tutoring and off-the-court seminars on topics such as, “Keys to Going on a Job Interview.”

Whether the Team IZOD graduates go on to compete at the highest level of basketball or decide to pursue a different career path, we are proud to know that they will be prepared with the work-ethic, commitment and teamwork skills necessary for success.

Webb Helps Raise $20K Donation for Beds for Kids

Team IZOD’s Webb Simpson joined us in Charlotte to attempt a 100 yard-golf-shot for a chance to earn a local charity, Beds for Kids, a donation.

Before taking his shot, Webb stopped by IZOD’s Google+ Hangout where he took part in a Q&A with his fans, who asked questions that ranged from his experience on the PGA Tour to his involvement in Beds for Kids. Shortly after, it was time to tee off.

Webb stepped up to attempt a difficult 100 yard-golf-shot over a series of six beds. He went with his lob wedge, and just barely missed the shot right. Still, Webb’s appearance earned Beds for Kids a $20,000 donation courtesy of IZOD and Belk!

Webb to Attempt $100K Golf Shot for Hometown Charity

We’re flying down to Charlotte on Monday, April 29, to watch Team IZOD golfer, Webb Simpson attempt a 100-yard-golf-shot. If Webb hits the shot, a $100,000 donation will be made to “Beds for Kids,” a charity that provides beds and other essential furniture to Charlotte’s children and families in need.

Fans are invited to support Webb in-person, at the new Belk SouthPark store, or online via Google+ Hangout.

Then, in honor of Belk’s 125^th Anniversary, Webb will be available for a signing inside the new IZOD Golf shop at Belk from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The first 125 customers to make a $125 IZOD purchase will get to have their photo taken with Webb and receive an autograph.

Following the event, Webb will be preparing for the Wells Fargo Championship at his home course. Be sure to tune in to Golf Channel beginning Thursday, May 2^nd, at 3:00 p.m. to catch all the action.

Webb Simpson In Top Form at RBC Heritage

This week in Hilton Head marked Webb Simpson’s fifth consecutive appearance at the Heritage, and it’s clear he’s growing quite fond of the Harbour Town Links.

Webb came into the Heritage having notched two Top 15 performances during his four previous appearances, but his best was yet to come.

Webb played brilliantly all week, and put together arguably his best round of the year on Saturday as he shot a tournament low 65. His stellar play positioned him in the final group heading into Sunday.

In the final round, conditions worsened, winds picked up to 30 mph, but Webb was able to hang tough. He was one of only a handful of players to finish the round at even-par or better. At the end of the final round, Webb had finished at -9 and earned himself a share of the lead with another former U.S. Open Champion.

A play-off ensued as the two made their way back to the 18^th. Webb’s approach shot missed the green right. Then, he used his putter from off the green to just narrowly miss the hole.

While the loss stings, one thing is for sure: Webb is beginning to feel like himself out there and an appearance in the winner’s circle in fast approaching.

MAXIM Party at the IZOD Social Hub

The MAXIM Party at the IZOD Social Hub had it all: PGA TOUR pros, celebrities, MAXIM models, an awesome DJ duo and much more.

During the night, PGA TOUR, Brittney Glaze from MAXIM Magazine and the KSR crew led a Google+ Hangout, that featured Team IZOD pros, Scott Piercy and Spencer Levin. We also got a sneak peak at Google’s latest product, Google Glass.

IZOD at the Masters

Team IZOD makes its debut at the Masters, but only one of the Team IZOD pros is new to Augusta. For Scott Piercy, who refused to even play a practice round at Augusta National before earning his spot, this marks his first time in the tournament. Meanwhile, Webb Simpson is hungry for his second Major Victory and is emerging as a favorite at the Masters.

IZOD will be making noise off the course as well. In addition to hosting the IZOD Social Hub, a 600-square-foot studio featuring 27 screens and live social feeds, IZOD will be teaming up with MAXIM Magazine to throw one of the biggest kickoff events of the Masters. The PGA TOUR and Kentucky Sports Radio will be reporting live from the MAXIM Party at the IZOD Social Hub via Google+ Hangout.
